PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Vernon Paddling Centre (VPC) has expanded its’ current paddling program to provide basic paddling safety and technique coaching to our new paddlers and more advanced paddling coaching to those members who are interested in racing and/or taking their paddling to the next level.    Group paddling options:

All paddle programs start on Monday April 8, 2024 - weather dependent - and run through the paddling season.

Please Note: For dryland instruction & to get the boats on the water on time, please arrive 15 - 20 min early.

RECREATIONAL PADDLE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Recreational and social group paddle in OC6 and small outrigger boats for adult paddlers.  Basic instruction and guidance on how to paddle will be done during the recreational paddle program. 

Recreational Paddle - Thursday evenings - 5:15pm – 7:00/7:30pm (on the water between 5:30 and 5:45) - Starts May 2nd

If you are interested in joining this paddle please contact Janis at jmcj@sympatico.ca as times may vary or the particular session may be cancelled. 

Other recreation paddles are being organized via a WhatsApp group for those interested in this program and times may vary. Members can message each other and discuss suitable paddling times to enjoy a paddle on the lake.

PADDLE PLUS PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The advanced Paddle Plus program is intended for experienced adult paddlers who are looking to advance their paddling skills and/or prepare for a race.  Training plans will be posted at the compound and hands-on coaching will be provided.

Paddle Plus - Monday & Wednesday evenings: 5:15pm – 7:00/7:30pm (on the water at 5:45)
Saturday – Crew practice

Prior to participating in the Paddle Plus Program, new club members must participate in the Recreational Paddle Program and be competent in basic outrigger paddling techniques and safety. 

Weekend Paddle: More details to follow.

No pre-registration required.

Cost

Note: Meeting times are in the compound, then on the water 15 minutes later. Please be on time or notify someone in advance if you plan to arrive late.  If arriving late be prepared to take out a solo boat.
